Sabrina Brass Conductor - Dave Heywood
Born and educated in Shrewsbury at Meole Brace and Wakeman Schools, studied trombone at Birmingham Conservatoire and freelanced as a
Trombonist in the Midland area. In 1980 he returned to Shropshire as an instrumental music teacher with Shropshire County Council, now the
Shropshire Music Service. Here he conducts many school, college and county level ensembles, including the Shropshire Youth Brass Band.
He was a founder member of Sabrina Brass and the conductor of the training band, becoming conductor of the senior band in 1990 after its
founding conductor, Mike Denny, retired.
Training Sabrina Conductor - Rebecca Heywood
Born and educated in Wellington, Shropshire at the Blessed Robert Johnson Catholic College, going onto study Tuba at the Birmingham
Conservatoire obtaining a B.A. Honours degree. Returned to Shropshire in 1998 and is currently Head of Music at Idsall School Shifnal, Shropshire.
She was a student member of Sabrina from 1990 and has been the conductor of the training band since 2001.

As well as Dave and Becky, the band are also very lucky to have Andrew Maher and Sheila Hughes, who both step in regularly to conduct
for rehearsals and performances whenever necessary.
